When Anxiety Lives in The Body
Not everyone describes themselves as anxious. I know I don’t.
Some women describe:
• difficulty relaxing
• feeling constantly “on”
• tightness through the jaw, chest, shoulders, or abdomen
• trouble settling or sleeping deeply
• feeling overstimulated, overwhelmed, or emotionally exhausted
Over time, the body adapts to stress by holding.
The nervous system learns vigilance.
Muscles brace.
Breathing changes.
Even rest can begin to feel difficult.
Massage and bodywork aren’t about “fixing” anxiety. They’re about creating enough steadiness, safety, and support for the body to stop holding so tightly for a while.
Many clients leave feeling lighter, calmer, more grounded, and more connected to themselves again, not because something was forced, but because the body finally had space to soften.
At Moonseed Massage & Bodywork in Inverness, my work is attentive and grounded in listening to the body in real time. Sessions may include therapeutic massage, lymphatic drainage, restorative bodywork, craniosacral therapy, or slower nervous-system-focused work depending on the session booked and the goals of care.
For many women, bodywork becomes less about “treating symptoms” and more about remembering what it feels like to feel at ease in their own body again.
This is my favorite part of my work, being with, caring for and using my hands and intuition to connect in and support.
If this sounds good to you, let’s connect.
